Washington, D.C. where I live, work, write, and play. It’s a great city even if it’s “the swamp.” Just don’t try to compare it to New York, it’s better than that.
I was in Taiwan’s second biggest city, Kaohsiung (高雄 Gāoxióng).
Taiwan is a small island nation in the Pacific Ocean. It is east of China, south of the Korean Peninsula, southwest of Japan, and north of the Philippines. The map above makes it pretty obvious where Taiwan is geographically.
Kaohsiung City is quite large on the Taiwanese map (highlighted in red above). In fact, the size of Kaohsiung dramatically increased five years ago when the province and the city merged under one local government. This means that Kaohsiung City today is actually Kaohsiung Province of three years ago. Kaohsiung’s urban center is located in the green circle above. As a result, Kaohsiung’s landscapes, people and culture are quite diverse.
